Trainee lawyer Laura Mariano

Laura Mariano, trainee lawyer, developed a strong interest in family and juvenile law, as well as in the protection of vulnerable persons, already during her university studies. Throughout her academic training, she took part in several legal clinics, carrying out practical activities in the fields of prisoners’ rights, immigration law, and gender-based violence.
She also completed training as an anti-violence operator and undertook the related internship at an Anti-Violence Center (CAV), an experience that helped strengthen her professional skills and sensitivity in contexts of particular vulnerability.
She graduated with top marks, presenting an experimental thesis in criminal law entitled “The Criminal Relevance of Forced Labor between Reduction to Slavery, Labor Exploitation, and Gaps in Protection.” The thesis examined, within the domestic legal system, the criminal relevance of the prohibition of forced or compulsory labor established by supranational legislation alongside the prohibitions of slavery and servitude (Art. 4 ECHR), through an analysis of both international and national law.
During her legal traineeship, which began in February 2025, after an initial experience in criminal law, she chose to focus her professional development on family and juvenile law, an area she considers most aligned with her personal and professional aptitudes and in which she intends to continue her growth and specialization.
